A S SR 27, B AN EXTENSION OF ——TIME TO—— CHRISTMAS PARCELS TO SOLDIERS In American Expeditionary Forces. this has been announced at the Atlantic Division Headquarters of the American Red Cross It has been found that, up to this time, there have been many instances in which the nearest relative of a member of the American Expeditionary Forces has not received a label from the man overseas. The Red Cross has been furnished by the War Department with a supply of ad- ditional labels, unaddressed, which will be given to the nearest relatives of members of the American Expeditionary Forces who do not receive label on or before Novem- ber 20th, (one label only for each soldier) upon an application to'the Red Cross. Such application must be made by the nearest relative of the man and must state that such relative has not received a label, that no other parcelis being sent to his knowl- edge to the proposed recipient, and that if a label is subsepuently received it will not be used. The regulation that only one Christmas Parcel may be received by each sol- dier in Europe is still in force. In giving out these labels the Red Cross will permit only one label for a soldier. ! The Christmas Parcel Committee Will be on 10 a. m. to The carton for the parcel must be obtained from the Red Cross, and when packed must not weigh more than three pounds. It must be inspected by the Red Cross and after postage is affixed sufficient to carry it at Parcel Post rates to Hoboken, N. ], it must be sealed and delivered by the Red Cross to the Post Office authorities. Christmas Parcels for individuals serving in the Red Cross, Young Men’s Chris- tian Association, Knights of Columbus, and other organizations working in connec- tion with the American Expeditionary Forces may be mailed to such individuals (one parcel only for each war worker) provided the nearest relative makes an application to the Red Cross and obtains a carton, returning it to the Red Cross for inspection etc., as in the case of parcels for members of the American Expediionary Forces.
