City Treasurer F. 8. Chamberlain ex- plained that on its regular appropria- tion the school board is short about $1,600 and about $22,500 as a resull of the repairs made at the Prevoca- tional Grammar school. At present the school building fund contains about $£15,000 and when the legisla- ture, by charter revision, grants the right to make the transfer this amount will be available for use. It will then take a transfer of $9,500 to make good the deficiency. Of this $4,000 is to be taken from the emer- gency fund and $5,500 from ths charity department. Several Transfers Made. The report of the board of public works showed that in the permanent paving fund there is $4,355; in the state highway fund, $3,717; and in the street lighting fund $7,100. The street department needed $9,000 and the board voted to transfer $4,300 from the permanent paving fund, and $1.000 from the street lighting fund, thus making up the necessar; amount. In the sewer maintainance fund there is a shortage of $800 and to cover this $700 will be transferred from the balance of $971 in park funds and $100 from the street light- ing fund. 1 Another shortage was from the board of health where $1,000 is needed. There is $2,150 in the incidental fund and it was voted to transfer $1,000 from this amount. It was also voted to transfer $82.50 from the salary fund to the soldiers’ ald fund. Mr. Chemberlain ex- plained that due to a clerical error this amount was paid to Mrs:. H. A. Hargreaves while her husband was doing duty on the border last sum- mer and should have been paid from the salary account. Superintendent Ralph G. Wain- wright of the parks said he thought the Stanley Park dam would stand the city in at about §1,200. This amount will be transferred from tke charity department funds. Reporting on the financial status Mr. Chamberlain said that on No- vember 10 he paid to the office of the state treasury $69,000 in taxes and there is yet $2.350 due. The board voted to have this tax bill paid at once. reported OFFICERS ELECTED. Directors of Hardware City Co-opera- tive Association Meet. Ben- v X .7, 1917, The Clear-Cut Issues Between Others and the HUDSON SUPER-SIX Don’t confuse them. No other Six is like the Super-Six. The distinction lies in a Hudson invention. That invention—applied to a Six of the finest type—increased its efficiency 80 per cent. So the difference is tremendous. No Eight or Twelve has anywhere near matched the Super-Six in performance. That’s why those types have not been more adopted. The Super-Six holds all the worth-while records. It has proved supremacy in every point that counts. It is the largest-selling fine car in the world. Never before has a single maker brought out such a dominant feature. Thatis why so many rivals seek to cloud the issue. They say you don’t want a racing car. You don’t need such vast reserve power. You are not going to drive across continent, so those records do not count. A Light, Simple Six destroys the bearings and the parts. It re- duces car life. It leads to noisy motors. The Super-Six records were won by endur- ance. Its greatest supremacy showed in the 24-hour record—won by 52 per cent. And in the 7000-mile round trip from San Fran- cisco to New York. There it twice broke all the transcontinental records. Any argument against such showings is an argument against endurance. But note that the Super-Six is a light, sim- ple Six. Other Sixes have a same-size motor. We have not added size or cylindgrs or com- plications to attain our end. What we have done—and all we have done is to eliminate most of the friction. way only we attained the speediest stock car in the world. And the most powerful stock motor, size for size, that was ever built. Would you have less power, less speed, be- cause of greater friction? Or would you have that friction ended, and use what power and speed you need ? The Ajter-Cost The question is not one of power or speed. It’s the question of after-cost. Friction in the motor causes wear. Phaeton, 7-passenger Roadster, 2 passenger Cabriolet, 3-passenger . ...81650 The War of Types In the war of types — between Sixes, Eights and Twelves—the Super-Six has won, Every record shows that. The ended trend toward V-types also shows it. The light, simple Six—the ideal type— again holds ruling place. Not the type that used to rule, but the Super-Six. It is evident today that the Super-Six is the only permanent type. Today it comes in bodies of the most luxuri- ous sort. And with a new gasoline saver—a radiator shutter—which means much added economy. We urge you to prove these things before the season when demand will far exceed the In that Wear Touring Sedan ... In her eighty-second year Mrs. John ‘Wickersham, of Russellville, Pa., says: “I was in a run-down, feeble condition and had lost flesh. A neighbor asked me to try Vinol, and after taking two bottles my strength returned; I am gaining in flesh, it has built up my health and I am feeling fine for a woman of my age, so I get around and do my housework.” The reason Vinol was so successful in Mrs. Wickersham's case was be- cause it contains beef and cod liver peptones, iron and manganese pepto- nates and glycerophosphates, the very elements needed to build up a weak- ened, run-down systemm and create Atrength.
