If experi- | enced leaders were available much outdoor work could be done. Bow- Jing is a new game which has just been introduced into Japan and Kyoto | directors ordered a pair of alleys from | America. Since their installation last May there has been an average at- | tendance of 600 bowlers and 1,500 games each month. Business men | are especially attracted by this game.” B. P. Barnhardt has arrived in Seoul to organize the boys’' and phy- sical departments of that place. The gymnasium classes are part of the regular school schedule at Seoul. The Seoul association is the first in the Japanese empire to set up an organ- ized boys’ department and is second | only to Kobe in getting anything like a full physical program started. Continuing, the report says: The Yokohama City association building is nearly completed and will | be opened for a full program of work | in a few weeks; in fact, educational i work has already been started. The Tokyo Imperial university building will be opened at about the same time as the Yokohama plant. The contract has been let and work be- | gun on the building for the national , committee. The Tokyo City associa- tion is happy over the beginning of | construction work on the new physi- | cal department building, and the modelling and enlarging of its audi. torium to fill the increasing demand for a large hall for Christian meet- ings. The auditorium is expected to be finished early next year and the physical building will be reody for at least some activities by February. These are separate buildings but are in direct connection with the main structure, A summer conference plant Wwgs started last summer at the foot of Mt. Puji and is composed of audi- torium, dormitories and recreational features. This place is coming into demand by other Christian bodies as a conference center and is already be- ing called the Northfield of Japan. The education and military author- itles have a well-worked out system | of physical drill which is compulsory and apparently | Swedish adapted from the system of gymnastics. As one educator said to Mr. Brown, ‘It is probably all right physiologically and as a body builder, but I. notice that after the men get out of the schools and the army they shun any- thing that looks like gymnastics; no attempt seems to made to sugar coat the work or to ontroduce any more interesting features of physical edu- cation.” Considering the ‘opportunities for ! service and the value of future rela- tionships our national committee sanc- tioned Mr. Brown taking whatever time is necessary in properly serving the Far [Bastern Contest committee until after next May. Rreparation for the coming international contests has | given a great boom to a1l branches of athletics; in different sections of the country six large track and fleld meets have been held since last spring, the number of athletes entered in each running from 200 to over 800. In two of thesc meets there have been tournaments in basketball, volleyball and association football. In addition, there has been one sectional and one national swimming meet. Some the events on next year’s program are entirely new to Japen. In one of the i first preliminary meets the hurdle race was introduced, and when the first heat was run off onec of the ath- letes laboriously crawled under two of the hurdles before he discovered his competitors taking advantage of of the fact that it was easler to go over the top! HAVE DARK HAIR AND LOOK YOUNG Don’t stay gray! Nobody can tell when you darken gray, faded hair with Sage Tea and Sulphur. Grandmother kept her hair beauti- fully darkened, glossy and attractive with a brew of Sage Tea and Sulphur. Whenever her hair took on that dull, faded or streaked #fppearance, this simple mixture was applied with won- derful effect. By asking at any drug store for “Wyeth’s Sage and Sulphur Compound,” you will get a large bot- tle of this old-time recipes improved by the addition of other ingredients, i all ready to use, for about 50 cents. . This simple mixture can be depended upon to restore natural color and beauty to the hair. A well-known downtown drugsgist says everybody uses Wyeth's Sage and Sulphur Compound now because it darkens so naturally and evenly that nobody can tell it has been applied— it’s so easy to use, too. You simply dampen a comb or soft brush and draw it through your hair, taking one strand at a time. By morning the gray hair disappears; after another application or two, it is restored to its natural color and looks glossy, soft and beautiful. This preparation is a delightful toilet requisite. It is not intended for the cure, mitigation or prevention of disease. i | | FRIDAY, SATURDAY ad SUNE JANUARY 12, 13 and 14 THOMAS H.
