Whenever the city needs a new school or other building the arch- itect who draws the plans of course i receives his fee which is always a sub- stantial one. It is estimated that the | fee for drawing the plans and speci- fications of the new Burritt school | will be several thousand dollars, and ‘ |2 corresponding fee is charged for other buildings. , Those in favor of | the building commission would advo- cate the hiring of a city architect at | a salary of about $3,000 and have him draw plans for all city buildings in | accordance with the views of the | commissioners. It is said he would | save the city more than his salary in | fees.
