Announcement of the new scale of pay was made to the employes in notices posted in the refineries today. These notices said: Effective on Dec, 1, lowing increase in wages will made: Common labor rate will be $2.50 per day. Those now receiving less than $2.20 per day will be increased in propor- tion to the increase in common labor rate. All other labor will be advanced 25 cents per day. STANDARD OIL CO. OF N. J., C. B. HENNESSEY, Supt. 1916, the fol- be Nov. 29. Of the 10,000 affected, 4,000 are employes of the Constable Hook re- finery at Bayonne, where several hundred workers went on strike last month and participated in many scenes of disorder, during which sev- eral persons met their deaths. How- ever, the increase in wages at this time is purely voluntary, representa- tives of the company assert. Besides the workers in Bayonne, employes of refineries at Blizabeth and Claremont, N. J., and Baltimore will get the increased wages. It was said that there was no plan at pres- ent to raise the wages of other Stand- ard Oil corporations employes. CAR TURNS TURTDE.
