(Special to the Herald.) Waterbury, Sept. 27—John Dixon of 431 Chestnut street, New Britain, em- ployed as a hookkeeper at the Stan- ley Rule and Level company in that city, had a narrow escape from death here yesterday afternoon when an automobile in' which he was riding overturned, pinning him beneath it. Mr. Dixon’s arm and hand were bad- Iy injured and he suffered painful cuts and bruises about the face and h¥ad as well as numerous strains about the body. He was taken to his home in New Britain last night. Mr. Dixon, with a number of other men from New Britain and other places about the state, was here at- tending the biennial state convention of the Knights of the Golden Eagle. Following the business session the lo- cal lodge members took the visiting delegates for an automobile tour of the city and it was during this ride that the automobile overturned, caus- ing the unfortunate accident. Fred May of New Britain was elect- ed as past chief of the state conven- tion and Wilson Merkle of Water- bury, was elected grand chief. JUNIOR MECEANICS ELECTED TO OFFICE F. L. Sunburn and F. C.
