Mulai Hafid be- came sultan of Morocco after a pro- tracted period of hostilities, and his brother, Abel El Aziz, the reigning sultan, was driven from the throne. By playing on the superstition and the fanaticism of the people Mulai Hafid, who rose in rebellion, won over a large section of the Moroccans, and his army did the rest. He is a strong- er minded individual than his brother, and has a more magnetic personality. He was formally proclaimed sultan, and the European powers accepted the regime. Mulai agreed to observe treaties with other nations to the ex- tent of making concessions which he condemned in the ex-sultan. He ruled for awhile and then abdicated to Spain and France on an extensive tour. If Too Fat Get Mo_re_ Fresh Air Be Moderate in Your Diet and Re- duce Your Weight. Take 0Oil of Korein. In its discussions the congress will give much attention to irrigation dis- tricts practices, legislation and en- gineering, Two of the important questions planned to be discussed are rural credits and markets and mar- keting. The rural credits discussions are regarded of special importance in view of the retent passage of the federal farm loan bank act and the present efforts of the farm loan board tricting the country and estab- lishing the proposed farm loan banks. “The work of the irrigation con- &ress,” says Arthur Hooler, secretary, “with respect to colonization and land settlement, irrigation methods and re- sults, and irrigation finances, is to be continued and braadened at the EI Paso meetir The real aim of the congress is well expressed in its motto: ‘Make Easy the Path of the Home Builder.’” Besides President Wilson, many prominent men, leaders in the agricul- tural and irrigation movement, are to take part in the cangre Among them probably will be the following: Franklin P.
