WANT LITHUANIAN REPUBDIC. Docal Tithuanians Demand Thao United States Take Action After War. Upwards of 600 Lithuanians met in Lithuanian hall last night and after listening to speeches by Mayor G. A. Quigley, Dr. J. Slupas of Scranton, Pa., and F. J, Bagocius of Boston, passed resolutions demand- ing that the United States take ac- tion following the European war to aid in the establishment of an in- dependent Lithuanian Republic. In their resolutions they set forth that the Lithuanians and Letts are able and prepared to establish such a republic and demand the assistance of neutral countries, urging that when free they aided other countries, particularly the United States, to gain their liberties. They furthermore resolved to ask Connecticut congress- men to support the bills introduced Ly Meyer London and J. R. Farr looking to . the attainment of this end. The resolutions were adopted and $200 was raised for the war sufferers in Lithuania. YOUNG MEN DISAPPEAR.
