In addition to $25 from the Phila- thea class of the First church towards the Boys’ Club building fund, which was announced in yesterday’'s Herald, Peter Crona, who has charge i of the fund, received a check last evenihg from Philip Corbin for $500 £nd another gentleman, who desires to keep his name secret for the pres- cnt, also donated $500 on learning from Mr. Crona of Mr. Corbin's latest contribution. He has been working lately on the question of site for the proposed building and announces that he has secured an option on some land owned by E. G. Babcock on Court street, which would make an admirable loca- tion for the structure, A prominent brick manufacturer has promised to donate 50,000 bricks for the building and it is hoped to secure similar donations from five cther brick manufacturers, the accom- | plishment of which would materially reduce the ultimate cost of the club | Louse. INSURANCE AGENT CROOK, IS CHARGE Former Metropolitan Employe in Court Today—Other Cases Heard By Judge Meskill, James C. Sullivan, alias Howard | Sargent, a former agent of the Metro- | politan Life Insurance company in this city, was arraigned before Judge James T. Meskill in police court this morning on a charge of embezzling $70.76 from the company on May 25. He pleaded not guilty and the case was continued until next Monday morning. The accused was taken to | jail in lieu of $500 bonds. Several months ago Sullivan was arrested in Vermont and sent to jail on a charge which accused him of irregular financial dealings and was released only yesterday. Detective Sergeant Samuel Bamforth was wait- ing at the prison gates in Newport, Vt., yesterday and rearrested the man as soon as he was released. The case against Willlam Martin, a chauffeur, accused of assaulting D. Gold of 126 Hartford avenue in Den- nison’s garage yesterday morning, | was continued until tomorrow when | only one of the state's four witnesses appeared.
