Mc- Donough, appointed by the New Bri- tain Bar adsociation, to draft ruies governing the city court, have com- ‘Pleted their work and have submitt- ed the rules to Judge James :r Mes- 4118 - k“’l’h- association will hold a meet- ing Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock to ratify the following rules: The court thall hold a session to be known as the short calendar at 2:30 o'c¢lock in the afternoon on every Friday (except during August, al- ternate Fridays in July, commenciig the secqnd Friday, and legal holi ‘daye) for the purpose of hearing ma- ‘tions and arguments, making assign- ments, etc. The clerk shall keep a list to be called the short calendar 1ist on which ghall be placed all mat- ters claimed for hearing at short cal- endar and also a list of cases claimed for assignment for trial. Claims for short calendar and for assignment for trigl shall be filled with the clerk on or before 12 o'clock or the Tueaday _préceding the session at which it opposing eounsel either in person or by mail, of such claim. . In order to secure publicity in the transaction of busineéss counpsel in addressing the court, will be expect- ed inall cases to stand at the outar eide of the table in front of the ‘Judge’s bench and no motion will be heard by the court, unless so made. .;lrt;qs ‘must’ be ready in . court with their witnesses, at the opening of eourt on the day of assignment i for trial. In all civil action, except summary process, the bill of particulars, substi~ tuted complaint or amendment. must be filed within one week after the re- turn day of the writ, unless otherwise agreed by both parties or ordered by the court. i The defendant, except in summary after the filing. of the plaintiff's plead- ings as above, and each step in the “one week. In every action of summary process, pleadings shall be closed and ' the parties ready in court for trial at 10 9'clock in the forenoon of .the trial day after the return day to fel- low the cases assigned for that day, unless otherwise agreed by ‘both parties or ordered by the court. For special cause shown the court may make any order concerning the time of pleading in any action pend- ing before the court, as it may deem best. ‘Writs shall be returned to court on or before 10 o'clock in the forenoon of the return day and default shall be entered unless appearance is madé by attorney on or before 10 o’clock of the day following the return day. The clerk shall keep a docket for all cases claimed for the jury, and the court shall summons a jury and hold a session for the trial nf cases to the Jury, on the first Monday of each al- ternate month, provided at least four cases are claimed for trial on or be- fare the Wednesday preceding the time above specified for such session. THe court shall summons a special jury for the trial of summary process cases, whenever requested by either party, No pleadings in any cases can be filed after the lapse of time, within which it should have been filed under these rules, except upon payment of two dollars costs to the adverse party, or by ordear of the court without costs for good cause shown or by consent of the adverse party or his attorney en- darsed on the pleading. In all cases in which the judgment rendered does not exceed one hundred dollars .and in summary process and bastardy actions, costs shall be taxed us provided by the statutes of this state for costs before justices of the ypeace. In all other cages, costs ghall be taxed as for costs in cases before the court of common pleas, except that the entry fees in all cases entered in this court shall be one dollar, Clerk bills shall be rendered month- 1y and shall be paid within thirty days thereaftér. The clerk will not be re- quired to lay before the court and the court will not consider any motion « made by an attorney who, ten dayse after notice is in arrears for clerk’s fees; nor shall the clerk be required to enter or retain the name of such at- torney in the docket. The third meeting of the New Britain lodge of the International As- sociation of Machinists will be held tonight at Carpenters’ hall, 3¢ Church street, On account of there being more than the réquired number of applica- tions for a charter aiready taken in it is important that all members be present. ‘The eléction of temporary officers will be held at this meeting. At INSPECT NEW ROAD. Local Party Views New Highway in ‘Waterbury. A party of local people, including city officlals, Journeyed to Water- buyry yesterday afternoon, to inspect the mew state road that the Connec- ticut Geoed Roads and Construc- tlon company of this city, is bullding bétween the Brass city and Water- town, The party was taken over the job by an {inspector from the highway department whe spoke very highly of the work that the company is daing. Peter Suzio, president of the com- pany, also explained to the party much of the detalls pertaining to the job. Part of the road is con- crete and tho rest gravel. The work will probably be finished in about a week, and the company is coming in for commendation by the resi- dents of Waterbury for the manfer in which the contract has been pushed. VEGA SOCIETY.
