FACTORY HAND IS FINED FOR THEFT Steals Quantity of Beitisg From Union Mfg. Gompany During Night. Found guilty of stealing a quantity of belting from the Union Manufac- turing company, Adam Burechowski, alias Adam Burke, a. night employe at the factory, was fined $15 and costs by Judge James T. Meskill in police court tajs morning. Officer Patrick Quirk, who by his himself to be very much on the job these chilly nights, arrested the accused on Stanley street, near Smalley, at 3:40 o'clock this morning, The man had a large package wrapped up in brown paper and waen the officer looked at it he found the belting. Burechowski explained that he had bought the belt- ing at the factory for $1. Later he explained that he had found it in the serap heap. Further investigation on Officer Quirk’s part disclosed the fact that his prisoner had another large plece of belting wrapped around his body beneath his outer garments. Superintendent Johm Carlton ‘de- nied that the belting had been sold to | the accused and the latter told the court he found it in the yard so thought it would be all right to take it Two Vags Sent to Jail. The two alleged ghicken thieves, Mike Mazar and Ffank Silverowski, could not bé connécted with any poul- try thefts inasmuch as the owners of the four chickens they had when ar- restéd could not be located. There- fore each was charged with vagrancy and sent to jail for sixty days. Both men told a rambling story of their activities, saying they had come from Albany last Monday and were walk- ing from New York to Massachusetts and got off the rcad, landing in the New PEritain police station. Used Too Much Violence, The continued case of Joseph Radzieskl, charged with assaulting Bruno Carish with a bliliard ‘cue on May 15, was also taken up thls morn- ing. It appeared that Carish, after trimming one man started after Radzieski and the latter used the cue.
