SWIMMING POOL TO CLEANED BY VACUUM Expected Tank Will Have Cleanest Appearance of Any in State. A vacuum cleaning machine has been installed in the Y. M, C, A. for use in the swimming tank as an ad- ditiona] precaution against the aceu- mulation of mineral matter. It is sald the installation will give the tank the cleanest appearance of any swim- ming tank in the state. The water in the Y, M. C. A, tank has been kept chemically pure at all impurities by city chemists. The porcelain tank accentuates the trans- parency of the water and when the bottom and sides are cleaned every day. hereafter by the vacuum cleaner, the tank will at all times appear immac- ulate in addition to containing chem- fcally pure water. The officials of the ¥, M. C. A, have been very careful of the swimming pool and have taken all precautions to maintain chemical purity in the water. The new apparatus was pur chased as soon as it was demo: strated as practical. AlL water e cept that which is distilled contains some mineral matter and other mat- ter in solution. When this settles it will be drawn out by the suction of the new apparatus, which drawe up considerable water at the same time. Announcement has been made of the summer memberships, which will be given at the same price as . last year. A fee of $3 will cover all privileges of the Y. M. C, A. from June 1 to October 1 and for boys t membership fee will be $1.50 for the same period. Many persons take out summer memberships because of the swimming privileges attached and it is proposed to make this feature as attractive as possible this summer.
