Rawlings for sleeping on duty and he will be given a hearing by the safety commissioners at the montily meeting of the board Monday evening. Found on Beat Asleep, Officer Carlson's suspension éomes as a surprise to his many friénds for he has always been a faithful officer and this is the first time that any charges have been preferred against him. On Wednesday night he went on duty to patrol the rdilroad arcade as usual. He rang in at the usual time, but when the policemen re- turned to the station house at 4 o'clock Carlson was not to be found. Nor was he found until later when he was discovered asleep on his heat. The name of the sleuth who Jocated him and the place of his concealment are not given out for publication by the department. ‘Chairman Alling, , of the safety board, hopes 'to be able to get around to the selection of .a city service auto truck at this meeting. At 12:30 lunch was served and at 2 o'clock the meet- ing was again resumed. Reports will be made on the different investigations carried on in the city as to the erec- ton of a central stationm, the purchase of land, and the routes and expense of getting a satsfactory equipment.
