London, March 6, 10:20 a. m.— George Henry Cadogan, fifth earl of Cadogan, died here today at the age of 75 years. He was one of the wealthiest London ground landlords and a great entertainer of royalty. Three heirs to the title died during his life time. Earl Cadogan was lord lieutenant of Ireland from 1895 to 1902. He also had been lord of the privy seal, un- der secretary of war, and member of parliament for Bath. Five vears ago the earl married hig cousin, the Countess of Palagi, at Florence. His first wife, a daugh- ter of the second Earl of Craven, died in 1907. M. “Greece awaits with extreme anxiety,” says the Matin’s Athens correspon- dent, “announcement of the decision reached by the crown council at yes- terday’s session at which was dis- cussed the nation’s policy regarding the war. The general opinion is that the council pronounced in favor of intervention, in which case mobili- zation is imminent. If the declsion was to remain neutral the ministry of Premier Venizelos will resign imme- diately, according to the mnewspaper Hestla.” HAGERMAN DESERTS. Chicago, March 6.—Confirmation was received by the Chicago Federal league club that “Rip” Haggerman, the pitcher, had rejoined the Cleve- land Americans, though he had signed a contract with Manager Tinker. In a letter from Hagerman, Tinker was informed that the pitcher’s lawyer ad- vised him to stay with Cleveland. Managers Tinker and Stovall rounded up their Chicago and Newark squads for the trip to southern training grounds. The teams will start south this evening together, the former go- ing to Shreveport and the latter to Marshall, Texas. COUNTERFEITING PASSPORTS. Rio Janeiro, March 6.—The police are investigating complaints made by the Netherlands consul that German reservists are counterfeiting Dutch passports in an effort to return home in safety.
