BE-OR(-:\N]Z:\TIO!\‘ Bill Presented to Massaghusetts Legis- lative Committee on Railroads. Boston, Jan. 29.—The bill for the re-organization of the Boston & Maine Railroad prepared by the fed- eral trustees of the system In an ef- fort to prevent its disintegration, was presented to the legislative commit- | tec on railroads by George L. Ma berry, attorney for the trustees, yes- | terday. All the trustees and James | H. Hustls, president of the road, at- | tended the hearing. Mr. Mayberry reviewed the financial plight of the road, and explained briefly the provi- sions of the bill. He referred to the fact that $23,000,000 in notes must be met soon and said that immediate leg- {slation was necessary to save the rail- road. Opposition to the proposed legisla- tion was voiced by Willlam B. Law- rence, said to be the largest individual stockholder in the Boston & Maine. He questioned the right of the leg- islature to authorize such a general suspension of the rallroad laws of the state as contemplated in the bill. He said he was not afraid of a receiver- ship. GREENWELD QUITS PLANTERS. From Wilmington comes word that Ernie Greenwell, the left hander with the Planters last season, will not re- turn to the Eastern association thi spring.
