PROCEEDINGS. UPSETS COURT | French Militant Suffragette Arrested for Smashing Windows. London, May 28.—A French mili- tant suffragette who was arrested for smashing three windows at the Na- tional Gallery today created a sceno when she was brought before the magistrate at Bow street police court. She continually shouted in Freanch “Hurrah for liberty!"” and “Hurrah for Christabel Pankhurst! The prisoner refused to give her name and told the magistrate she did not want to hear anything. She kept up a voluble declamation in French accompanied by much gesticulation throughout the proceedings. She was remanded in custody for a fur- ther hearing. SLINGSBY SUIT TO BE TRIED IN JUNE Uncle Protests Tegitimacy of Nephew'’s Claim to Legacy Left by Yorkshire Clergyman. London, May 28— The suit brought by Tdeutenant Chnarles Reynaud Slingsby of San Irancisco, claiming for his child the succession to part of the Yorkshire estate of his father, is to begin early in June Lieutenant Slingsby's father, the Rev, Charles Slingsby, dled in 1912 as the result of an aocident in the hunt- ing field. He left property said to pro- duce an income of $50,000 a year, and the bulk of this has fallen to Lieutenant Slingsby. The remainder was to go to Lieutenant Slingsby's son, whose legitimacy Is contested by Lieu- tenant Slingshy's voungest brother. At the opcning of the court today Henry E. Duke, a lawyer member of parliament. who represents Licutenant Slingsby, applied to Sir Samuel Evans, ident of the probate court, for an hearing of the sult.
