PANKHURSTS OPPOSED BY NEW FACTION | Followers of mmzm Suffrageties Gradually laavmu Ranks: London, May 1.—“The Pankhursts must go!” promises to be the rally- ing cry of a new suffragette organi- zation formed by leaders who believe woman’s cause has suffered a set- back by the practice of the leading militant society. A significant fea- ture of the new movement is that it is fathered by suffragigts who were once strong supporters of militant tactics but who, at various times, have been forced to withdraw from the Women’s Social and Political union. L The simmer of discontent, which now promises to break into revolt, begen last year when Mr. and | Mrs. F. W. Pethick Lawrence on their re- turn from Canada were . informed that Mrs. Pankhurst no longer de- sired their services on the executive committee of the organization. |This intimation was carrid to % the betore their hoat Lawrences reached the dock They were inclined at first to laugh at it as preposterous, but on landing they found that Mrs. Pankhurst had made herself so powerful during their ab- sence that it would be hopeless to fight her edict, so out they went. Grievance Not Alred. As firm believers in the efficacy of militant tactics, the Lawrences did not air their grievance, in the hope that the autocratic regime of the Pankhursts would advance the cause, ! which they held above all else. This | truce and the determination of the various constitutional societies not to criticise any tactics, which sought a common end, gave Mrs. Pankhurst and her daughter Christabel abund- ant time in which to perfect their organization, before opposition was offered to ‘their autocratic sway- But the promised results did not material- | ize and now the Women's Social and | Political union faces both opvositlon without and dissention within. While dismissing members of her | personal staff, Mrs. - Pankhurst has{ also been discharging privates in the | ranks. One of thesg women, Wio was | expelled from the organization last week, declared that she was dismissed on the most trivial pretext possible and that lately Mrs, Pankhurst had dismissed a number of the workers from the organization appar- ently through caprice. The dismissed =member asserted that 'YOU PAY LESSHERE § “THE ALWAYS BUSY STORE™ SIMON’S GREAT yuit Sale! A BIG SUCCESS. THE GREATEST SALE OF THE YEAR ! COR.OF CHURCH. HARTFORD. the militants are dwindling daily un- til at the present moment there are only 3,000 active workers in the Wo- men’s Social and Political union. These women are subject to Mrs. Pankhurst’s autocratic | decrees and may be called upon at any time to perform militant deeds. In spite ot the dwindling number of workers the finances of the organization are said to be in an excellent state. This is due mainly to two Scottish spinster sisters, whose fortunes were made in an Atlantic steamship line. Thetr subscriptions to the funds of the mil- itant fighting forces are heavy ana unfailing. Salts If Kidneys or Bladder Bother. Harmless to flush Kidneys neutralize irritating acids. and Kidney and Bladder weakness re- sult from uric acid, says a noted au- thord The kidneys filter this acid from thesblood and pass it on to the bladder, where it often remains to irritate and inflame, causing a burn- ing, scalding sensation, or setting up an irritation at the neck of the blad- der, obliging you to seek relief two or three times during the night. The sufferer is in constant dread, the wa- ter pass@s sometimes with a scalding sensation and s very profue; again, there is difficulty in avoiding it.
