In the morning the practice will start at 9 o'clock while the af- ternoon workout will begin at two bells. Each practice will last about two hours. This kind of work wiil be indulged in for the next week or s0 and then the men will be ready for the games. _If this warm sun keeps up it will not take the play- ers very long to be ip excellent con . dition. They are looking forward to an excellent training season and are confident that they will return to Louisville in better shape for the lnn;" season than has ever been the caseé. All of the Colonels were rather amused at the headlines appearing in a Tampa paper this morning. Al- though the story itself wag rather complimentary to the Colonels and to the people of Lakeland, the head- lines did not correspond according. ly. The head stated: “Ivory Knobs Given Pink Tea Welcome.” ! It is supposed that the “Ivory Knobs” referred to are the Colonels. We will let it go’at that, anyway. Owing to the fact that the Colonels have four games scheduled with the! Chicago Cubs, who are at Tampa, during the training season, the baseball fans will have a chance to see for themselves which club has the most “Ivory Knobs” enrolled. Two of the games will be played here in Lakeland while the other two will be played in Tampa. The Colonels would be delighted to have the fang of Lakeland go out to the ball park during the practice hours. Although there will be no games played for awhile, the fans can watch tha men get in condition. They will aiso have a chance to get acquainted with the players. The Colonels have made up their minds that they are going to feel right at home in Lakeland. The rousing re- ception that they got could not make them fee] otherwise. Since arriving here we have heard that Lakeland had a dandy repre. sentative team of its own last sum- mer, finishing second to Tampa in a league race. The chances are that Manager Hayden would like to ar. range a game with the Lakeland team for the first contest of the present season, so if the Lakeland boys get the club together the game Danforth, the etghth hufiér, has not would afford some good, clean rival- reported as yet but is expected tory that everyone would enjoy. elry of all kinds, also enameling of names, flags and society emblems on ; watch dials while you wait.
