Kimbrough Supply Co Johnnie, into how many are chssos |are motor cars divided? il e e Eh L L LS EE VRPN 1 Two—Fords and automobiles. Correct. What is a Ford? Ford is a scientifically constructed four-wheel motor car intended as the safest and surest mode of travel at the least cost. Does it fulfill the which it is intended? It does. What canyou say of a day's out- ing in a Ford? It consists of a continuous spin over hill and vale, full of pleasure, fun and satisfaction. What are the necessaries to take for a day's outing in a Ford? A little gasoline in a tank, a lit- tle oil in the engine and a little water in the radiator, and your wife and babies in the car. Why are Fords more cheaply and satisfactorily operated than automo- biles? Because they purpose for are mechanically perfect, free from cumbersome ad- juncts; in other words, they are sim- plicity simplified. Now, what is an automohile? A car usnally of heavy weight with big, expensive pneumatic tires, hizh rated horsepower, made up of | storage batteries, magnetic clutches, a network of wiring, automatic pumps, air-pressure pumps, oil pumps, oil feed pipes, sight oil feed, odometers, clocks, volt-meterg, aero- meters, air pressure gauges, shock absorbers and other mechanical con- glomeration intended as a medium of separating the rich from their cash. Does it fulfill the which it was intended? It used to—but not now. What can you say of a day's ing in an automobile? of break-downs, downs, lay-outs and blow-outs. What are the necessaries to take for a day’s outing in an automobile? Four hig extra casings, extra tubes, an electrician, a mechanician, an able-bodied chauffeur, a check book and a good account with your local bank; and you will need to frequent gasoline stations, telephone stationg and garages. Why are automobiles more sive to operate than Fords? For the same reason that it is im- practicable to opMrate purpose for out- 1t consisi» bog- locomotives with pneumatic tires on dirt roads. 2848 N THE CIRCUIT COURT. A few of the really useful favors which may be provided for a smal) party are well worth considering. For the girls there are the daintiest possible card cases of pasteboard cov- ered with pale-toned Japanese crepe and decorated with a hand-painted flower design, that cost very little whether made at home or made to or- der. Then there are the work bags in Bulgarian colors that can be made of the blue and red wide ribbons which have recently gone out of fashion for sashes and girdles, but which are the materials {maginable for “fancy” things. Any girl will gladly welcome a favor fn the shape of a narrow-stemmed, tall Chinese vase'in blue and white or blue, red, green and black, for it makes an ideal receptacle for hat pins when not needed for the single fresh flower which should be on every daintily- equipped dressing table, It is alzo a gocd Idea to give single teacups and saucers in oriental ware, because nearly every girl is now col- lecting a harlequin set. The men will like the latest thing in oriental neckwear, the brown and white ties of Tanryoka crepe de chine which can be home-made from the pat- tern procured by buying one shop spec- imen. If ft {s too much bother to make these ties, the party hostess may provide watch guards in plain and sub- stantial black silk ribbon. These guards are exceptionally good-looking and smart. If thero is to be only one sort of favor, provide bridge sets consisting of two packs of cards and a score pad, leather case inclosed. The doctor’s bill is not such a thing to dread in Austria as in some parts of the world, as a report from United States Consul Frank Deedmeyer, sta- tioned at Prague, shows. The City of Prague with a popula- tlon in city and suburbs of about 600, 000, has only about 800 physicians, or one for every 7,600 persons. A doctor charges for a daytime call in a middle- class family only 60 cents, or 10 cents more than if the patient calls on him in his oftice. For a night call the doc- tor receives $1.20 to §2, according to the distance. Only professors attached to the clinies of the two local univer- sities charge more, receiving $2 to $4 | for a housa call and $2 for an office visit. As in this country, the physi- cians, except those of the homeopath- ie school, do not supply medical rem: edies. “At most of the hospitals under the control of the Roman Catholic associ- ation,” continues Mr. Deedmeyer, “treatment and care are entirely free. Nurses at hospitals ere paid 80 cents a day for the first year, with an an- nual increase of 20 cents per month; at sanitariums, from $6 to $8 per week; at private houses, from 80 cents to $2 per day, board being always Included for all nurses. “About 100 dentists practise In this city. The average charges are: Draw- ing one tooth, 40 cents; cement filling, 60 cents to $1; amalgam filling, 80 cents to $2; gold filling, $2 to $4; bridgework, $10 to $20. “The annual Incomes of these pro- fesslonal men are estimated as fol- lows: Head professor in charge of clinics, salary paild by the govern- ment, $1,410 to $1,600, and $5,000 to $11,000 from private practise; other professors at clinles, salary paid by the government, $1,000, and from pri- vate practise, $4,000 to $10,000; gen- eral med practitioner, not attached to any clinic, $3,000 to $3,500; the av- erage income of a dentist is 3:000." | COLLAR “MAKES” THE GOWN lMolt Important Accessory May Be Fashioned in Short Time by Clever Woman.
