CORN CLUB MEMBERS SHOULD NOT BE DISCOURAGED couraged in their contest this spring. ‘Everything started off very nicely but some obstacles came up after a while that seemed to thwart their progress; these things come up in any pursuit of life; however, those who succeed are the ones that are able to master the situation. It takes study, preparation and close observation to be able to get the best out of adverse circumstances. The dry weather came and those who had broken their land deep and had well prepared it for the seed be- fore planting are the ones that con- served moisture enough and kept it in tact by fast and shallow cultiva- tion to carry their corn well through the six weeks’ dry spell, and now we have rains that have relieved the sit- uation. Now, boys, any mistakes that have been made this year by careful- ly noting them, will help us througn like circumstances another season; however, you have succeeded so well so far that the dads are taking no- tice. Yours for success, A. A, LEWIS, Polk County Demonstration Agent. LAKELAND MILITARY BAND PURCHASES PALMS THEATER The Lakeland Military Band takes over the Palms theater, starting to- night. Williams who plays the clarinet in the band and orchestra, has been elected by the band as man- ager of the theater.
