We are authorized to say that this yearn will go yearning down the corridors of time feeding on itself forever, if it lasts that long, for Mr. Stockton has no yearning for debate with' Fletcher and declines to gratify yearnings of that kind from any source whatever. RN, s s AN At the bankrupt sale of the Pensa- cola News a few days ago, Herbert Felkel bought it for $6,000 and is now its sole owner. Dirt cheap for a fine property. Herbert is a cracker- jack newspaver man and we Wish him abundant success with the News. N. J. Lillard as business manager is a stroke of good fortune for the paper, for ewt” is ag good at his enq ag Felkel at his and with such a team the News ig practically sure to be a winner. UCIRE R WSUCE St ey Dannitte Mays, of Jefferson coun- ty, who formerly representeq his dis- trict in Congress for a term or two ‘and was defeateq by Emmet Wilson, hag come up out of the valley of in- decision aftes much close calculating and travail ‘of spirit and now an- nounces that he is a candidate for Congress to succeed Frank Clark, his home county now being in the sec- ond district, Mr. Clark has a real fight before him, for Dannitte is foxy, knows the game, proclaims thimself a farmer and snuggles up mighty close to the dear people when he goes campaigning among them. S iy We have received a copy of the first issue of the Clearwater Evening Sun, Willis B. Pewell, editor. In his salutatory, Willis says not to judge the first number too harshly “as it is but an infant still red in the face with the usual soft spot on top of its head.” From long experience and .observation we have learned that it is never fair to measure the merit of a paper by itg first issue, but the Sun could stand this test without injury. The copy before us is typographical- 1y good anqd its contents excellent. Powell’s fine ability shows on every page of the paper and we congratu- late him that his enterprise ig now fairly launched and we heartily wish him a full measure of success. We also congratulate the people of Clear- water that they now have a daily paper editeq by one of the brightest men in Florida journalism. It will pay them to give his paper a good support, RSSTION VR The publication of a seénsational dispatch in the City of Mexico papers that the Mexican army by a brilliant coup had captured El Paso, Texas, routeq the American troops and had compelled the conquered inhabitants to cede one-half the city to them as the price for vacating the other half, almost suggests that Hearst himself may be operating a paper in the Mexican capital. If he isn’'t he ought to send for the Mexican whose flam- ing imagination conceiveq that dis- patch anq make him chief of the war staff for the Hearst publications. What Milliam Randolph wants is the stuff that will sell his papers, re- gardless of anything so dull and 0 commonplace as mere truth and fact. EESEE R The death of General Daniel E. Sickles in New York yesterday closed a long ang stormy and picturesque career ‘and markeq the end of one of the gamest fighting men the nine- teenth century gave to the world From the time he killed the seducer of hig wife before the civil war un- til death played the final trump he wag in trouble of some king or oth- er pretty nearly all the time and his superb nerve was emergency. There are no twenty- seven ways about it, Lakeland has a bunch of very pretty girls or else some very flattering artists. We tried to make a selection from the group ag to which was entitleq to the “blue ribbon” but the more we scanned them over the more lovely they seemed to appear and each one seemed to occupy a place as the “bright, particular star” in her own orbit. In al] line kelanq seems to be there with the goods.” —0 YOUR MONEY BACK IF YOU WANT IT Leading Druggists Will Refund Pur- chase Price of Dodson's Liver Tone if You're Dissatisfied Lake Pharmacy may not be will ing to guarantee the safety anq re liability of calomel for constipation ang sluggish liver, but these stores will and do stand back of Dodson’s Liver Tone with an unconditional guarantee to refund the full pur- chase price (50c.) instantly without question if you are not satisfieq in every way with Liver Tone and its results. Remember, If You Buy Your Panama Else- where, We Both Lose. 1 “The Panama Man’ -—— e e e e e e Many women who would like to im- prove the condition of their hair are frightened at the elaborate directions, and by the injunction to do it every day and for periods varying from a quarter of an hour to an hour, Few women in these busy days feel that they can spare a half hour every morn- ing toward the treatment of their | scalp, and it is not necessary, unless |, the scalp is in a very serlous condi- |* tion. A few hints for the busy woman | are sufficient. ¢ Before this article closes a word | : should be said about the general care | % of the hair. A few moments massage & does much to promote the growth and | %' to stimulate the scalp. Brush the hair | & regularly—by the way, be careful that | % your halrbrush {s free from dust; do | not leave it on your bureau to gather :;: up the dust and small particles of dirt | & in the atmosphere; this is very bad for your hair—shampoo the hair every | & two or four weeks; do not comb it |% out while wet, as the use of a comb | on damp hair is apt to sour it. Use |3 an old silk handkerchief to smooth the | hair with; this tends to keep it glossy | & and smooth. A little pure imported | * bay rum is good for light halr. Rub 6 small quantity into the scalp twice 6 week during warm weather; it will keep the scalp clean and {mprove the hair. A wash of German camomlile {8 good for very blonde hair. Infuse the flow- ers in hot water, strain and let it cool, then rinse the hair in this. It tends to keep the blonde tone of the hair brilllant. The cultivation of the hair 18 like the cultivation of a beautiful and rare rose plant; it must be cared for, nourished and tended, and the re- sult will indeed be worth our labor. Yhe woman who takes an interest in her personal appearance will always be able to find those few minutes a day that are necessary for the culti- vation of her “crowning glory.” One of the best “general” tonics on my long list of hair growers and hair tonics is the following, which s eastly put up: Phenic acid, two grams; tincture of red cinchona, 30 grams; tincture of | cantharides, two grams; cologne, 120 grams; sweet almond oil, 60 grams. Apply to the roots of the hair with a small plece of absorbent cotton. % BB Summer Fashlons, The old-fashioned fichus will be a pleturesque accessory of summer dresses. The tailor suit for morning and walking will be cut on severely plain lines. The coat will button straight up the front. Plain shirt- waists with stiff collar and plain derby hat of velvet will lend a decld- edly masculine effect to this costume.
