Hetherington, | Lakeland, Fla. | THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT That dispatch telling of Florida or- anges going begging on the Kansas _{City market 'at ninety cents a crate ought to teach a lesson worth heed- ing. The market was glutted by rushing twenty-five carloads of the fruit to that city in one day and with supply so enormously in excess of demand there could be but one re- sult. Such disastrous mistakes can only be avoided in one way and that by adequate system and co-operation where the gruit is grown. Independ- ent action by the growers, the right to do as they please with their own, will not be denied in the abstract, but it is against the economic laws of these times and won’t work as a paying proposition. The Tampa Times has something to say directly in point on this subject and it is good sense worth heeding. Usually the newspapers nose out the iman in advance of his appointment. e e | That South Florida candidate for the United States Senate still re- imains conspicuous by his absence. Trot him out, you who are grooming bim on the quiet, unless you hold it fncompatible with his hoped-for sen- atorial dignity to trot. In this con- ction here is a paragraph from the Tampa Times which seems to have jome special siznificance: F “Our Jacksonville friends needn't Wflatter themselves thatthatsenatorial eontest is going to remain a Jack- gonville fight to the finish. There'll ibe a Tampa hat in the ring before jmany suns rise and set.” i AR R Many a paragraph, grave and gay, Witty and witless, mean and kindly, v111 lie unwrit in “the dark, un- fathomed” minds of newspaper men Flerida because Albert W.
