Hellier's yesterday afternoon. In spite of the inclement weather the trip was successfully made in automobiles. Seated on the verandas overlook- ing beautiful Lake Parker, a delight- ful afternoon was spent. The ladies carried their fancywork, and dainty refreshments were served by Mrs. Hellier, It was decided after July 1 to hold the meetings every two weeks, so many being absent during the sum- mer months. Gratification and pleasure were ex- pressed over the liberal idea suggest- el by the Baptist ladies in their union meeting recently held for all denominations, and the determina- tion of the ‘church to do its part in fostering the friendly spirit thus in- spired. Next Wednesday's meeting will be held with Mrs Huguenin on South New York avenue. Those present were Mrs. Hellier, Mrs, Iverson, Mrs. Harvie, Mrs. Lov- ell, Mrs, Flood, Mrs. Rivers, Mrs, Hu- guenin, Miss Rivers and Miss Wil- liams. @ the game, and so have y until the end— i Love, you know it well; ich to take and send; Blift of downcast eyes, the' ) of the hand, | jmade, sealed with a Kkiss pon, the distant band; hat none lived but you {'twas but for the time, pulse ran wild with joy, word a rhyme. the game, and so have Mtimes against our will, played, because with sour hands would never es, when our souls were | all the world seemed smile, and play again, pr to uphold; [Bose hours were past and d often wonder why thoughts o’erwhelm us Love was low and high, « 2 8 the game, and so have fihope to play it more; P¥kan we hope to hold the held before, turned so many tricks, oft changed the score, I$ have refused to change, plays in their door; now content to sit and e others play, of bygone days, when Don't for Girls. Because they believe styles ‘‘have 2 pernicious influence on the minds ot young girls,” the Massachuset's State Federation of Women's Clubs has gone on record against such at- tire. The love of ex- treme styles seems to be growing.” ' el | A member of the Woman's Chrls-l tian Temperance Union requests the! publication of the following piece otl poetry, which she hopes will cause some of Lakeland’s girls to think a bit: Little girl you look so small; Pon’t you wear no clothes at all? Den’t you wear no shimmy shirt? Don't you wear no petty skirt? Just your corset and your hose— Are those all your underclothes? Little girl, when o nthe street You appear to be all feet; With your dress so very tight, You are just an awful sight— Nothing on to keep you warm; Crazy just to show your form.
