Maybe many feel inclined to envy the splendor of the $55,000 wedding of Jennie Crocker and the happy prospect, so far as her $10,000,000 can go, with which she and Malcolm Whitman enter upon their married life, But let us not make any foolish mistake about it. Money is very powerful, but it does not buy either love or happiness that is genuine. Cupid is no auditor of accounts When he draws his bowstrings he shuts his eyes, and whether the shaft lodges in the heart of plutocrat or peasant it is all one to him. Really, income is the least import- ant thing in happy marriage, and has been so ever since the red roses of love first began blooming in the human heart. The things absolutely essentizl to the happy home are strangely few. Chief among them are love and faith. Neither of these costs money. Neither can be bought with it. But both of them often fly from it. Love and marriage mein more to those in moderate circumstances than to the canse-taking rich. It means a wedding of purposes and sympathies in a common cause of anxiety, of hope, of struggle, of dis- appointment, of success. It means a deep experience in all the profound scul-nourishing emotions, to many of which the hearts of the rich are closed. For when struggles ceaso sympathies and aspirations cease also and the soul stagnates. So while we may wish the rich young couple all the happiness their hearts are capable of absorbing, let us not envy them; for who is there to say that they may not often envy the simple, sweeter joys of poorer folk?Pensacola Journal . While a few of them are entirely of a creamy hue, the most ef- fective are in old rose, delft blue, pas- tel green or khaki, embroldered with : white or black linen floss. This needle- work, which is in a bold design and done in a close, solid stitch, runs from the inner to the outer edge of both collar and cufts, where the hem- stitched border is very coarse and ef- fective. The collars are five pointed and 8o extremely broad that one Van Dyke terminates at the center of the back, two Van Dykes fall over the top of the arm, and the remaining pair extend almost half way to the walst line. As the scason advances and out- door functions hecome more general, some delightful lingerie dresses will be seen; for in the warmer weather | there 1s always a great wave in favor of white. It will not be unrelieved purity, however, for the note of color will occur in sunshade, shoe and walst belt, while in the silk or ninon frock the lingerie collar and the flounce will give it the simple touch and charm ! \\:hlch is 80 characteristic of the artis- tic creations of the moment.
