While Lakeland never «avertised itself as a health resort, the fact that it is one will draw peo- ple here in search of health. All the sreater reason why a proper body v ill be needed to carry on educational work in healthful living; so that it 1y be known to what extent infec- tious and contagious discases are ac- tively transmissible. is It has been stated that we have a sanitary inspector who attends to the sanitary conditions of the city. There i no oflice in the municipal depart- nent of any city that so needs the advice a board of health as the of- fice of sanitary inspector. The sani- tary inspector has admitted that he i= not a germ expest, that he wouldn’t Lnow a germ it one hit him in the eye, or words to that effect. In the interest of cconomy, perhaps, this health department might be cmitted, but in the interest of public health and the future growth of Lakeland it is an absolute necessity. NOTICE.
