There's gayety in every move, There's laughter in her eye; she comes at last, the Summer Girl— And comes extremely high. Certified sweethearts is a new and | interesting social experiment in which Chicago is taking the lead. The Bethany Club for girls has been instituted there with 1,000 members and ten times as many more wait- ing to get in. The plan as thus far worked out is that the executive committee of the managers, of which Mrs. William Peterson is chairman, shal] examine young men applicants tor club privileges and if the commit- tee can O K them morally, socially and financially, and approve them as soung men of high ideals and serious purpose they will be allowed to call on the young women at the club. The plan seems feasible and promising, and, although such a civil service as- sortment of eligibles might be a trifle ¢ull and uninteresting, most other people are for that matter, and these censored and passed by young men would be dependable and matrimon- ially inclined, which is about all that any girl can reasonably ask.
