Practical illustrations of building will be seen in Lakeland! when the Special Good Roads Train' of the American Association of High- way Improvement, operated over the Atlantic Coast Line Railway, ar- rives here Tuesday, February 8, car- rying three cars full of various sam- ples of road paving and other ma- terials for highway improvement. This train will remain in Lake- land trom 4:30 p. m., Tuesday Feb- ruay 8, until noon of February 9th, when it leaves for a four hours stay in Auburndale. The train left Washington some weeks ago in charge of A. B. Dun- ning, an expert on road building, who represents the highway asso- ciation. Mr. Dunning in his lectur- es at the different places the train stops, explains the qualities and ad- aptability for road use of the mater- ials forming the display on the train, Thus the people in the Southern States are receiving much valuable instruction in road building. The assoclation has the support of the national government in the under- taking. Much interest is being manifested locally over the coming of the train and the board of trade is arranging for a meeting on arrival of the train here. An, effort is also being made to in- terest the county commissioners in all the counties of Florida through which the train will pass, an invita- tion being extended to all of them to visit the special and hear Mr. Dunning's lectures. The train will proceed south from Jacksonville over the Atlantic Coast Line touching all important points on the system and returning here February 22, 1912, HEAVY TOURIST TRAVEL NECESSITATES NEW TRAINS In anticipation of the heavy tour- ist travel between the North and Florida, customary at this season of the year, two handsome new trains has been for the past three weeks, were put in service in this State the| po oowds were ve first of the year, the one other over the Seaboard Alr Line.
