Civil Service Region has announced that ap- plications will be accepted from persons who are totally blind or whose vision is seriously impaired in an examination for filling posi- tions of dictating machine trans- eriber. Positions pay $2,750 and $2,950 a year. Applicants take a test of typing from dictating machine recordings and a general abilities test for which a reader will be provided. In addition to passing the written test competitors for the $2,950 position must have had one year of experience which incluced gen- eral office clerical’ work, typing, or dictating machine transcription. Applications must be filed with the Fifth Region by October 20. Information concerning this ex- amination or advice as to where such information is available may be obtained at any post office or the Fifth U. S. Civil Service Re- gional Office, 5 Forsyth Street, N. W., Atlanta, Georgia. COMMAND CHANGE ON USS THREADFIN Lieutenant Commander Daniel G.
