Try A ‘Quick Action’ Citizen Classified Ad - Dial 2-5661 or 2.5662 ity A Quick Action Citizen Classitied Ad - Dial 2-5661 or 2-5662 Rita Hayworth| Ike Appeals Stars In Film |For Prayer At Islander Rita Hayworth — more beauti- ful, more electric, more impas- sioned and vibrant than ever — is back in Columbia Pictures’ “Af- fair in Trinidad,” at the Islander. Starred with Miss Hayworth in ‘Affair in Trinidad’ is Glenn Ford, who was her picture partner in ro- mance in the sultry, memorable “Gilda,” and “Affair in Trinidad” introduces several exciting new- comers to the screen. But it is Miss Hayworth who dominates “Af- fair in Trinidad.” It is an entertainment _experi- ence of the highest order to see Miss Hayworth dancing her way through the liquid rhythms of a Calypso tune and to hear her tor- chy chanting. Rita’s ‘Trinidad La- dy’’ number is a breathless, breath- taking thing. As breathless and as breathtaking is the star’s spectacu- lar appearance, the very embodi- ment of feminine allure, as a night club entertainer on the island of Trinidad who sings that she loves what she does, and does what she loves. Cynical, disdainful of the unde- sired attentions lavished on her by the island’s males, she becomes in- volved in international intrigue when police suspect a suave cos- mopolite, who’ specializes in obtain: ing and selling government secrets, of being responsible for the: mur- der of Rita’s late unlamented hus- band. It is the latter’s death which brings Ford into the picture as the victim's brother. Suspicous of the girl and of her seeming disregard for all conventions, and unaware that she actually is in love with him, Ford sets out to find his bro- ther’s killer. The discovery that he is passionately in love with the “Trinidad Lady” adds to ‘the sus- pense and drama of the film. DENVER (# — President Eisen- hower appealed today to the people of Russia and other Iron Curtain countries to join Americans tomor- row in a day of prayer for world peace as “the true cure” for war- breeding tensions. In a message beamed to the Soviet Union and its satellites over the powerful radio facilities of the Voice of America, the President said: “May the world be ringed with an act of faith so strong as to annihilate the cruel, artificial bar- riers erected by little men between the people who seek peace on earth through the Divine Spirit.” Voice of America transmitters began broadcasting Eisenhower's appeal worldwide at 6 a.m., EST, today—with special emphasis on reaching people of the Iron Curtain countries. The National Day of Prayer for Peace being observed in the United States tomorrow was provided for in a resolution passed by Congress and approved by the President. Eisenhower himself will attend chapel services at Lowry Air Force Base here tomorrow morning to ray for peace. vile is the text of the Presi- dent’s new plea directed particu- larly to the peoples of the Iron Curtain nations: “In common with religious peo- ple everywhere, we in America know that the true cure for the tensions that threaten and too often produce war lies not in guns and bombs but in the spirits and minds of men. We are firm in the belief that faith is the mightiest force that man has at his command. “On September 22nd we are therefore observing, with an act of faith, a National Day of Prayer. Throughout: the United States of America, whatever our ancestry, whatever our religious affiliation, we shall offer simultaneously to the Almighty our personal pray- ers for the devotion, wisdom and stamina to work unceasingly for a just and lasting peace for all mankind. “T most earnestly hope that men and women, boys and girls all over the world will join with us that day in that act of faith. May the many millions of people shut away from contact and communion with peoples of the free world join their prayers with ours. “May the world be ringed with an act of faith so strong as to annihilate the cruel, artificial bar- riers erected by little men between the peoples who seek peace on earth through the Divine Spirit.” Truck Driver Dies As Streamliner Crashes Vehicle MATTOON, Ill., —One person was killed and 28 others were in- jured yesterday when a New York Central streamliner plowed into a truck at a crossing and went off the tracks. The NYC’s diesel-powered South- western Limited, bound for New York with an estimated 95 pas- sengers, struck the truck and the second unit of its diesel engine was derailed. Nine cars following it careened from the tracks and came to a screeching, rending halt 200 yards beyond the crossing. The last two cars remained on the Tails. Rescue crews attributed the rela- tively small number of injuries to the fact that the derailed cars did not splinter. Killed in the collision was Cary Bryant, 24, of Mattoon, driver of the truck laden with gravel. The train was speeding eastward after a ‘scheduled stop at Mattoon when it hit the truck at 11:42 a.m. (CST). Only three injured remained in the hospital overnight, The island of Cyprus, one of the important copper producers of the ancient world is again important in copper production, LEGAL NOTICES —— IN THE CIRCUIT COURT OF THE SIXTEENTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA, iN AND FOR MONROE COUN TfY.
