After a formal opening service with an inspirational devotion giv- en by Mrs. Claude Salis and Mrs. Nellie Louise Curry, the business of the evening was taken care of in a business-like way under the leadership of the new president, Mrs. Doris Edwards. Mr. Ned Simmons, principal, in- troduced. the teachers, and Mrs. Annie Ulchar, vice - president, pre- sented.each teacher with a cor- sage. .... : “In turn Mrs. Edwards presented the officers and committee chair- men to the P.-T. A. The new mo- thers. were recognized, and wel- comed. Rice, was in charge of the business meeting. After the business session, the members enjoyed delicious home- made breads and cakes made by the hostesses, hot and iced coffee an tea. Beta Omega Chapter Holds First Meeting The first meeting of the year for Beta Omega chapter of Beta Sigma Phi was held Monday, Sep- tember 13 with Ellie Rae Gwynn, first vice president, conducting the meeting. Margaret Scully, program chair- man, discussed the sorority’s cultural pmogram for the year, “Beauty,” and distributed the pro- gram books to all attending the meeting. The chapter extended a cordial welcome to Elsie Peters, Edna Hoff Young and Helen Walkington, a transfer member from Illinois. Margery Sellers, chairman of the comic softball game between sorority members and the Jay- Cees, announced $320 was raised for the emergency polio drive and thanked everyone for their sup- port of this successful game. The chapter has sponsored Lynn Sellers as its entry in the beauty contest for in conjunction with the fiesta celebrating the sailing of the “City of Key West.” The sorority will actively partici- pate in celepration. : Mrs.,.H.
