HOUSE a WAY FOR MOTEL CONSTRUCTION Street. The new motel, being built by the CBS Construc- tion Co., Inc., is owned by Jacob Dietsch, owner of the Blue Marlin Motel. Norman Giller, of Miami Beach, was the architect. Dietsch will continue to operate the Blue Marlin. The new motel will be called the Blue Marlin Motel and Apartments. It is being built on a 100-by-200 foot plot that adjoins the present Blue Marlin. The new structure will contain 20 units—11 ef- ficiency apartments and nine motel rooms, plus a laundry room for the use of guests. The new building will be com-— pletely air-conditioned. Its 20 units added to the 14 motel rooms in the present Blue Marlin will make a total of 34 units. Each of the units in the Blue Marlin Motel and Apartments will contain a TV outlet. There will oe @ master antenna on the roof. Each unit also will be wired for a pri- vate tlephone. fs New Manager The building be built of con- crete block with a stucco finish. A balcony will run along the front of the second story and there will bea sun deck on the roof. Dietsch has elaborate plans for landscaping the new motel. “Tt will be a tropical garden,” he said. As for the management of the Blue Marlin ‘Motel Apartments, Dietsch is bringing an experienc- €@*hotel man from Los Angeles, Alfred Schlesinger. Construction of the Blue Marlin Motel and Apartments is the first of several new Motels and apart- ment buildings that are scheduled for Key West in the near future. *New Buildings Planned In the works for early construc- tion are a 20-unit apartment building at South and Williams Saturday, August 14, 1954 THE KEY WEST CITIZEN Streets, a motel at South and Du- val Streets and another motel on Roosevelt Boulevard near the Howard Johnson restaurant.
