The tables were attractively dec- with colorful arrangements of zinnias and gladioli. Favors were baskets fashioned from paper doilies containing tiny artificial flowers. Business was postponed for a month and members welcomed aboard the following newcomers: Mrs, D. C. Rumsey, 11, Mrs. Rob- ert A. Shields, Mrs. Henry C. Smith and Mrs. B. W. Williams. Hostesses for the month, Mrs. Legion Auxiliary Instruction School Set For Members It was announced at the meet- ing of the American Legion Aux- iliary on Stock Island, that a school of instruction will be held on Sun- day, July 11, in Fort Lauderd: The school will begin at a.m: and will be held at the Wil- liam C. Morris, Post 36, building. Any member may attend and ali are urged to do so if they made and passed that $3 be paid by the unit on hotel expenses for any member attend- ing the school of instruction should they arrive there on Saturday in order to be rested and on time for the meeting. Members were reminded that there are about 35 different pro- grams in the American Legion Auxiliary so that they can work in the field most interesting to them. The president, Teresa Braxton, urged all members to take active part in the work of the American Legion Auxiliary. Apropos of this, the following poem by an unknown author was read: “Are you an active member, the kind that would be missed, or are you just contented that your name is on the list? Do you attend the meetings and mingle with the flock, or do you stay at home to criticize and knock? Do you take an active part to help the work along, or are you sat- isfied to only just belong? Do you ever go to visit a member who is sick, or leave the work to just a few and talk about the “clique?” Think this over, member, you know right from wrong, are you an active member, or dco you just belong?” Christine Key, membership chairman, asked that anyone de. siring to pay their dues to please call 2-2488 or 2-6141 and some one would come for them, or they can be paid to her at 616 Duval Street. It was brought out that while dues are not delinquent until Oc- tober, the membership chairman would have more time to work on new members if all renewals would pay before then. Service Notes Paul E.
