Walter were married in © candlelight ceremony at the Old Stone Methodist Church on the evening of May 14, at eight o'clock. The Reverend Paul J. Touchton performed the double ring cere- mony before the altar of the church beautifully decorated for the occasion with baskets of white gladiolis and white cathedral candles. The bridesmaides, Miss Frances Saunders, sister of the bride, and Mis Evelyn Tidwell and Miss Sandra Warren wore . identical dresses in pastel shades and car- ried matching nosegays. Miss Saunders gown was pink and Miss Tidwell’s blue, Miss Warren wore orchid, Little Miss Gay:Marie Alexander was flower girl and her dress was yellow taffeta trimmed with tulle and roses. She wore a yellow head- Piece and carried a satin covered basket. The bride is the daughter of the Wiliam F; Saunders, of 2330 Stap-. Jes Avenue. She attended Key West High School,.and is a member of the Order of Rainbow for Girls. She was formerly receptionist for J. Y. Porter, IV. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm M. Watler 1406 Oli- ‘McKinley was Key West High School, and enter- ed the Navy immediately after his graduation. At present he is serv- ing abord the USS. Logan as Gun- ner’s Mate third class. The Logan is stationed at Long Beach, Cali- fornia. hi For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Saunders chose a beige lace gown worn with white. accessories, and she wore an orchid corsage. Mrs. Watler wore orchid lace with white accessories and she al- so wore an orchid corsage. A reception was held immediate- ly following the ceremony. on the lawn at the home of the groom’s brother, Malcolm B. Watler, 2408 Fogarty Avenue. The bride’s table was placed be- fore an arch with a large wedding bell and the names of the bride and groom. The table was center- ed with a seven tiered wedding cake surrounded by fern and step- hanotis and flanked with candles. Miss Mary Ann Matchett and Miss Joyce Lounders assisted in serving the approximately 180 guests present, The newlyweds left for a short wedding trip to Miami Beach after spending some time with their guests. Mrs, Watler wore a black and white suit with white acces- sories and an orchid ‘corsage. Now before you parents get up in arms, let me add that the dimin- utive Lee is proud that he was “the cleanest comic in burlesque.” “I never did anything off-color in burlesque,” he says. “If any- thing, my vaudeville act was spicier, “I’m grateful for the two years I spent ‘in burlesque. It was the greatest training I could have for what I am doing now. In those days, we had no script. We'd lay out the sketch and then feed lines back and forth to each other with- out missing a cue. “Now I’m doing a_ half-hour show- five days a week. It’s a script show, and although we go over the lines many times, there’s still a lot of ad-libbing and fast thinking to do. That burlesque training really pays off.” Pinky’s checkered beany and his shy, lisping comedy have been known to audiences for years, but it turned out that a kid show has brought him his biggest success, He started his Pinky Lee Show for NBC Jan. 4, and earned the second highest audi- ence rating for daytime shows. The veteran Howdy Doody, which follows him, is first by a small margin. “T’ve never been happier than I it quickly, he remarked. “Before, it always seemed that when 4 was on the threshold of big things, the Devil would come along and knock the props out from under them. Now I think I have found my niche.
