Music is well said to be the Speech of angels, = She Mother’s Day Observance At Presbyterian Mother’s Day will be observed in the First Presbyterian Churelr to- morrow at the morning worship service, The minister, Rev. Rich- ard E. Coulter, will speak om the subject “A Happy Home.” Mother’s Day has been emphasiz- ed for almost fifty years bythe Protestant Churches of America as a means of implementing the teaching of the Church on sound home and family life. Though the movement to ob- serve Mother’s Day started in Phil- adelphia, it has spread until it has taken a distinct place, along with Children’s Day, in the program of most Protestant Churches. A happy home is essential to a happy person. The two together will keep America great; it will give us the moral fibre to face the future. Importance of Family The family is fundamental in hu- man society. The home is the source of authority, government, morality and religion. Without fam- ily ties, family government, family virtue and piety the Church could not exist and society would soon relax into barbarism and fall to pieces, The Christian home, therefore, is under God the hope of the world. Everything that is good in Church or society is first nurtured in good homes. A real Christian home is:a place where Christ Himself dwells and where each one is conscious of the atmosphere of Christ’s love, ,; The popular series on “The Pil- grim’s “Progress” will be continu- ed at the Evening Worship service with the account of the martyrdom of Faithful. Faithful’s Martyrdom Faithful had been a companion of Christian on the journey from the city of Destruction to Mount Zion. In this allegory, John Bunyan tells of the trials and dangers of those who walk the narrow road that leads to eternal life. The Youth Fellowships will meet at 6:30 p. m. to continue the series of studies on “The Church.” Two officers of the Church have recent- ly addressed the group on the du- ties of the Session and Deacons. Plans have been made for the Vacation Bible School which will start on Monday July 5th and con- tinue for two weeks. Events for the week are: Meet- ing of the Session on Monday night at 8:00 p. m. in the Minister’s Study. The Choir will meet on Wed- nesday night at 7:30.-On Friday the Women of the Church will co- operate with the local Council of Church Women in. the observance of Fellowship Day. The session will be held at the Episcopal Church starting at 11:00 a. m. Link Reveals Service Plans At Ist Baptist Using the Bible story of a devout woman called Hannah, one of the finest characters in the literature of the Old Testament found in the First book of Samuel, Rev. Harold H. Link will emphasize the im- portance of Christian mothers. at the Sunday morning service at the First Baptist Church. Also at the morning service, corsages will be presented to, the oldest and youngest mothers pres- ent. The quality of America’s Moth- ers today determines the quality of America’s citizens tomorrow. Our future rests with the Mothers of our land. The Rev. Link says, “America needs Mothers who know Jesus Christ as Saviour. If a woman is the kind of mother that America desperately needs in this hour, ‘she is a Christian Mother. “Yes, I mean exactly that, ‘with- out apology or reservation. I do not believe that anyone anywhere can give to a child the kind of training, the type of home, the Proper influence and environment unless that person is a Christian. “Only the mother who has had an experience of salvation with Jesus Christ, who has come® in rerentance and faith to Him ac- cepting His sacrifice on the Cross a. . uionement for her sins. Only ts kind of mother truly repre- sents that which we honor as the highest and finest in the land. , ‘It is imperative that there shall rise up a generation of American mothers who are Gol - fearing, prayerful, responsible, concerned, and Christian. Then, and only then — will the hand that rocks the cradle be worthy to rule the world.” orning Saturday, May 8, 1954 REV. D. T. NEWMAN THE KEY WEST CITIZEN Service Page 5 ee MRS. D. T.
