~ Steel Ban Gay Skipper Seeks Fourth Straight Win Here Tonight At least one Key West greyhound racing fan was $488 richer last night after Velma Merriam’s Steel Band and Fred Whitehead’s Buzz A Bit triumphed in the first and second races at the Key ‘West Kennel Club to pay a Daily Double in that a- mount. Steel Band, an 11-1 shot, triumphed going away while Buzz A Bit came in a six length winner over Carlton to produce the payoff. The Quiniela on the first race amounted to a huge 185.40 while the second race Quiniela was 106.20. It looked like bank night after the third race when LaCrosse and Buper Tate came in winners = that go to return a Quiniela of 134.80. In the feature race of the even- ing, Fred Whitehead’s Rural Cou- sin, was a victor by the prover- bial nose over Hush Shane. Sir Mc- Kay took a wide second turn and wourtd up in the third position. Rural Cousin paid off 21.40, 7.20 and 4.40 while Hush Shane paid 3.40 and 2.60, Sir McKay returned 3.60 for show. : Tonight is Ladies Night at the track and racing Secretary L. L. Griffin has put together a banner program for the fair sex. M. W. Fagg’s Gay Skipper Jooms| as something of a favorite in the feature to capture his third straight victory. Gay Skipper led all the way last Saturday night when he gained an impressive victory over Noir, Smart Design and Irene Hill.
