Page 8 THE KEY WEST CITIZEN American Legion Handicap Race Set Tonight At The Key West Kennel Club Hazy Moon Wins Monday Night In Feature; $377.60 Quiniela Is Paid One of the hottest races to be contested to date over the Key West Kennel Club oval will be run off tonight when eight of the most promising dogs at the track go to the post in the American Legion Handicap. The race which will be run off in honor of scores of Legionnaires who will be present, has been especially made up by rac- ing secretary Bill Griffin. Paul Southerland’s Jack O’Lish looms as the favorite in the tussel but he will be pressed greatly by dogs such as Two-Ee, owned by R. K. Hutchings and Cliff Waller’s Direct Answer. Jack O’Lish captured his last outing by a nose over the crack Marianao to run his skein for the meet up to seven wins and Two- Ee has compiled the impressive record of five firsts and has fin- ished in the money a total of 14 times in 24 starts. Direct Answer will definitely bear watching on the basis of his record of four victories in six starts in Kennel Club action. He finish- ed second in one other outing. The fans are watching him closely and a win tonight would greatly en- hance his standing. Post time tonight is 8:15 p. m. Frank Whitehead’s Hazy Moon did it again last night when his strong finish’ gave him the verdict in the feature race, A heavy favorite of the fans, the winner gained the lead at the box and then lost it to Spur On, who tried and lost it to Jack Camron, who finished second when Hazy Moon marshalled his strength and came in a winner. Famous Wheel ran third. The winner paid 5.60, 3.80 and 3.20 while: Jack Camron returned Sports Mirror By The Associated Press TODAY A YEAR AGO — The Cincinnati Reds sold outfielder- first baseman Dick Sisler and shortstop Virgil Stallcup to the St. {Louis Cardinals for outfielder Wal- ly Westlake and third baseman Eddie Kazak. The body was buried in Fern- wood Cemetery. Several days later a friend of the florist said Davis has called him from Chicago. Yesterday Corner Joseph Omin- sky, after talking to Davis’ former landlord, who said he had seen and talked to the florist in Chicago withdrew the death certificate is- sued in the name of Davis.
