K. ings’ Mort and F. B. Stutz’ Avenger, will be run off to- night at the Key West Ken- nel Club. Avenger, who holds the track mark over the 5/16 mile distance at an even 31 Seconds, appears to be the favorite although what. will Hutch-} happen when he runs head-! on into Mort, who has cap- tured eight firsts in 16 starts | thus far in the season, is any- ‘one’s guess. In addition, the field will in- clude Reckoning, owned by Mrs. H. E. Russell who has shown well jin his last two starts with im- {pressive wins. A top crowd of racing fans is expected to flock to the plush Stock Island oval for tonight’s classic. The two featured dogs are cur- rently the hottest pair at the track but they will have further competition from Pagoda, Honest Buddy, Bar K, Tammie and Last Summer. Post time tonight is 8:15 p. m. | In last night's action, Foot Hill, ‘owned by Cliff Waller used his {late speed to come in a winner ia the feature. Starting from the number seven spot, the winner loafed until the halfvay mark and then with a furious burst of power, outdistanced the field to pay 12.40, 4.00 and 4.20. Bridle Comer and Whispering Charlie finished second and third yin that order.
