A memorial service which is known as Yiskor Maskir Nasho- mos in Hebrew will take place on Tuesday morning at 8:30 a. m. These rites are dedicated to the memory of departed dear ones. The first two days of the Pass- over celebration were very nicely attended by members and out of town guests including servicemen im the area. The usual tradition of the seder from members. was_held in homes where many guests were invited. This year marked a new 1‘gh in the observance of the seder. A model Seder will be held for the children of the Sunday School this coming Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the social hall of the Synagogue sponsored by the La- dies Auxiliary of the congregation in charge and Rabbi Abraham Schwartz. Matzos (unleavened bread) was sent out to servicemen at the Na- val Bases by Rabbi Schwartz to aid servicemen in refraining from eating bread during the eight days of the Passover, which is strictly forbidden by the Jewish religion, Passover Story Our ancestors, over 4000 years ago, began the fight for freedom and liberty of humanity trie to their great leader Moses in An- cient Egypt. where their an- guished cries were heard by God who sent Moses to demand of Pharo, who was the king and ty- rant dictator of Egypt that he freed the Israelite subjects. When Pharo defied the divine will, ten plagues were inflicted upon the Egyptians. These af- fictions, especially the last one, “the smiting of the first born,” had the desired effect and the Israelites were hastily sent out. Their departure is’ known as the “Exodus.” Some time later the Egyptians had a change of heart and decided to pursue the Israelites to put them back into slavery. ISUNDAY SCHOOL LESSON! Sabbath (Saturday till sundown) | mate fate is death, and the approximate hour was, with his line of three o‘clock Sunday morning. Wo- men, even though kept in the background by the customs of the day, have ever played an impor- tant part in the great+ Christian venture and faith. They were the last of all the disciples at the Cross and the first to the sepul-; chre. While they knew that the Ro-; man guards would never allow them to anoint the body: of the Savior, those faithful women came at the call of hope and at the urge of unconquerable belief not to -be disappointed. They found more | than they expected. The empty grave and the angel’s message en- abled them to not only hear but to bear the message to the dis- ciples and to the world. There are many differences be- tween the Gospel writers as to just: what occurred on that memorable | morning. This can be expected since two witnesses even in this enlightened age do not agree on the details of so unusual incident. One so momentous as the ressur- rection, even though they had seen | Lazarus brought back from the | dead, challenged their very reason. The shock was bound to excite the most calm and reliable witness. It is true also, that each writer would naturally record that which appealed to him most and that which he considered important to his faith. Matthew concludes his story with the resurrection while others give a glowing account of subsequent appearances of the Christ. Luke and John report not one but two angels while Mark says that a young man was pre- sent and gave them the message.
