Mort Goes To Post Tonigh R. K. Hutchings Two-Year-Old To Seek Sixth Win In Seven Starts BY JIM COBB Citizen Sports Editor Mort, a two-year-old owmed by. the R. K. Hutchings Kennel, looms as a heavy favorite tonight when he goes to the post in the feature race at the Key West Ken- nel Club. The frisky greyhound, who has never finished worse than second place in’ action during the current meeting will be seeking his sixth win in seven starts. But the favorite will be hard pressed in the race when he will face pups like Ed Wulf’s Last Sum- mer, who has a record of three victories in four starts (he ran second the other time), Julienne, who has shown plenty of class to date, Run Mike Run, Whispering Charlie, Some Mix, Wilshire and Senor Sensation. Mort’s winning ways started back on February 20th when he finished first against such dogs as Hazy Moon and Foolish and he has since defeated some classy canines in the first three weeks of racing here. Fs Post time tonight is 8:15 p, m. In Saturday night’s action, Rene- gade, owned by Cliff Waller, cap- tured a two length win over a blue ribbon field in the feature event. The winner came up on the out- side in a strong finish to edge Magnate and Forward who both put forth good efforts. The winning time was just one second off the track record held by Spittin’ Image at 31.3 seconds. Renegade paid off 18.20, 5.60 and 3.80 while Magnate returned 5.00 and 3.40. Forward paid 4.20. The Daily Double, Lucky Teter and Divine Devil paid 95.60 while the sixth race of the evening paid off with a hefty Quiniela of 138.00. NEW STAMP ISSUE RELEASED TODAY MT, VERNON, Va.
