But it is just the title of an article, not a column, and has nothing to do with the Navy news letter called “Now Hear This” which starts on Saturday. It’s in the form of a personal letter to me from Lee Chapman, wife of Cdr. Cedric Chapman and has been mentioned before in this pillar. You'll follow the activities and chitchat with in- terest whether or not you are anchor-branded. Lee has that style. She used to do publicity for the State of Pennsylvania. . that's the keystone. Lee’s dachshund, Elbey, a beautiful black animal with tan markings has that dread kidney infection which is going the rounds of dogs and cats which somehow establish contact with rats which have been poisoned (even sniffing rat tracks will dot it, they say) Dr. Landrum is treating him and he seems to be on the road to recov- ery, luckily. hostess with Mrs, Chapman at a “to-do” Saturday, was standing on the corner just after the big Papy wedding, ‘chatting with Mrs. Irving Duke (who was wearing, by the by, a gorgeous yellow iris corsage which looked like an orchid spray) when a big bus turned the corner and stopped right in front of the church, At first I thought someone had copied the man in New York who swiped a bus and went for a joyride picking up passengers. . . until I saw the wedding guests climbing into it. . . and realized it was graciously hired to take them to the Casa Marina reception. ON DECK to cheer Jerri Blan- jentertainment are a little over the the other eve were Jay Wray, Ski Skewis, Dean Murphy, Julian Vo- Vv. and La French, the girl who couldn’t stay away. But Jerri would be pleased to know that she does have a following among white- hats anyway. . for example Jack Johanson, SS 1st class of the USS folk was never like that. He didn’t say what Norfolk was like, but on- looker Red Kerrick did. . . Hmm. Have you heard the ballad: The Indian took his squaw friend to his wigwam... .and their love was in- tense?
