In 1946, he struck out 348 men, {a major league record. In 1938, he struck out 18 Detroit Tigers in one game--that, too, stands as a record. Stutz kennel’s Avenger, who captiired an impressive win in the Key West Inaugural race here on Saturday, looms as the favorite to win tonight in the fea- ture race at the Key West Kennel Club. The fleet greyhound is the hold- er of the track record and tonight will be. oyt to better that mark in his second outing. Trained by Bob Black, Avenger is seen as a dis- tinct favorite, barring mishaps. However, the favorite will be facing some of the top dogs at the track when he goes to the post to- night. In particular, his stable- mate, Forward, is expected to press him throughout the 5-16 mile course. This dog has a lot of speed and if he breaks a little faster he is going to be a real threat since he has plenty of late speed and he was catching up with the in- augural winner his last time out Wayside Lady, owned and train- ted by E. F. Snipes is also a top contender in tonight s feature. This little spedster was in a jam early in the race Saturday if she shakes loose, may lead the way home. The balance of the field will be made up of Resonator, Trina, Senor Sensation, Honest Buddy, and Jack O’ Lish. Last night, Bright Idol came from far behind to gain the win in the feature race in a photo finish. Lost Trail posed a real threat in this contest and Cameron Highlander ran third A $255.60 Quiniela was paid out in the seventh race last night when Router and Illasol coupled o The Daily Double, Fancy Times and Wynelle, paid $82.00.
