SOCIETY — PERSONALS — NEWS OF INTEREST TO WOMEN DOROTHY RAYMER, Society Editor Page 4 THE KEY WEST CITIZEN SHOP HOPPING This is positively the last Mon- day you'll ever have in 1952. That's @ promise! Your Thursdays, Fri- s, Saturdays and Sundays are all used up too, and you only have one more Tuesday and Wedneday. Seems as though that is so aus- picious you ought to plan some- thing special for them. I don’t know, I always feel kind of sorry for kids born in the month of Dec. Like Leap Year babies, they miss out on birthdays so very badly. So it was with good old Andrew Johnson, 17th President of the United States who was born in North Carolina this date in 1808. Well, with so little time left in good old 1952, let’s just stop everything and go shopping. xk kk Little boys and girls are born with stars already in their eyes. But the twinkle of the star trim- ming on the afore and short sets | saw a | Togs on Sat- urday matches the twinkle in their eyes any day. They have these lovely little brother and sister sets of Fuller Fabric styled by Virginia Blake of Miami at Ideal in sizes two to six X, The pinafores come in white or navy with cute sailor collars and trim of red with twinkly white stars. The shorts are navy or whité too, and ha’ their own suspenders. They also trimmed with red and white, starred. The Fuller fabric looks and feels like linen but has famous non-crushable features. Tots with fat {ittle tummies * don’t usually feature a nipped- in look, but the size almost-zero bathing suits of cotton crepe with fluify ruffle and lastex waist makes them look that way. It’s beach time‘in the Sunny South- land, and old man sun is just + standing by waiting to tan these babies up! PR te Be. Still got. left-over cake? Or, do you want to make a delicious dessert in nothing flat for that Sunday night lunch, or unexpect- ed guests? Try this: Drain the juice from a number two can of sour pitted cherries; and reserve one fourth cup of same. Add one tablespoon of lemon juice and a dash of cinnamon; heat to boiling. Mix into this one and one half tablespoon of corn- . starch, one fourth cup sugar and srved juice to smooth paste. into the hot juice and cook, ag constantly until thickened. ies. Heat until cherries are hot. Serve over sponge cake or left over cake. You see a Monster is made with that same wonderful hot fudge that is made especial- ly by Nestle. It’s so rich and chocodiaty with just a bit of bitter sweet to it to make it ‘specially good. There is only one other place in all of Florida that gives such scoops of ice cream, and that is the Saxony Hotel in Mia- mi Beach. It just sets me to wondering, exactly where DID they get that cream scoop, hmamnm. Wit Now I am not normally too cur- ious, and the news that Key West would be hosting Siamese Twins did not exactly get me in a dither. also crunchy | Especially since I have been read- ing about Daisy and Violet Hilton ever since I could remember, and seen so many pictures of them. They are really quite good looking T understand. However, the powers of advertising being what they are much trouble | the violin, | (and I should know) I've gotten real excited. At this writing I haven’t seen them, but I have a front row center all reserved, and armed with a clipping from the Citizen 1 am all ready for them. Either this is going to be the most sensational stage show of all time, or else they have a wonderful press agent. Everytime I turn to the amusement page the following meets my eye: Daisy and Violet . ». the only female Siamese twins ever born and only the 3rd set of twins in over 3000 years. “Chain- ed for Life,” can a Siamese twin have a shy husband?. . .Now there’s a good question. Is it legal to marry a Siamese twin?. . .and several other equally, or more, interesting questions, Also, “Why is Daisy’s love different from Vio- let’s? By golly, this 1 have to see. If I can print it, I'l tell you all about it! Se ROR Well, Christmas has passed but the parties aren’t over, and we are just getting well started on a big party season. Did you ever sit with your feet tucked under you, and everytime you did move, you felt as though everyone was locking at your feet. . .and all because you were sure you didn’t quite have on the right shoes for the costume or maybe because they were a bit shabby? Well a quick trip to Globe Shoe store will quickly remedy this state of affairs. Here you will not only find the color to match the ‘costume, but the shoe to fit . the occasion, whether it’s in the Pic’M side or the better shoe department. For Dad and Junior too, there. regulation for Servicemen. Ree® Well seeing as how I don’t have commercial chocolate sauce by Nestle, I have a very good recipe I'd like to pass on for a creamy chocolate sauce that will keep long in the refrigerator and will never! get gummy or stringy. Combine one square of unsweet- ened chocolate and one cup of milk, fresh or canned in the top of a double boiler, Heat over boil- ing water until the chocolate melts. Use more chocolate if you favor a bittersweet flavor. Beat with a rotary beater until smooth. Com- | bine one tablespoon flour, one cup sugar and a dash of salt in a bowl, then stir in the hot mixture. Re- jturn to the boiler and cook until thickened, stirring _ constantly. Then add two teaspoons of butter jand one half teaspoon vanilla Makes good topping for old cake or ice cream. Try it sprinkled with nut meats. This amount jmake from four to six servings. xe Some people Some people Some people polite And others plain bossy.
