She will be wed to Robert Stanley Gilbreath, SA, FAWTU, son of was the star opposite Tyrone Pow- er and the picture was “Razor’s Edge.” Gene was in love with a man who wanted to be alone in the Himalayans. she’ll find someone who wants to live on a plateau for her next story. Anyway, this time. she’s a re fined Argentinian of the late 1800's, who is fascinated by a brooding gaucho, proud and fierce and stubborn who has never been pam 'pered on the pampas. In a shart- dagger, short-lived fight, he kills another “cowboy of the Argentine plains” and is sentenced to setve with the rough militia. He doesn’t take to restriction. Or maybe he can’t stand the really baggy pants of one of the cavalry sergeants seen briefly waddling through the courtyard. At any rate, he deserts. Too bad, because the major, a hard ‘boiled egg is really quite a guy. | From there on, the gaucho who wants to breathe the free air of the pampas, even though it’s dusty as cleaning day at Aunt Esmer- ald’s, is a marked and hunted man. Captured, he’s tortured, escapes, joins the gaucho guerilla band, and is chained only as a prisoner of love. Gene Tierney looks wistful in mantillas or riding postillion with her gaucho. of East St. Louis, Ill. There’s a hint of the famous manhunt from “Les Miserables” in the story, but the power isn’t that of Dumas’; masterpiece. Nevertheless, the theme is interesting, the scenery in full color is fabulous. The dia- logue is somewhat stilted, but no- body needs to talk in a glowing sunset anyway. Son Born To Woman Doomed To Die Soon LOS ANGELES ®—Tiny Mich ael Emmanuel Garrett is resting in the maternity ward of Angelus Hospital. Some day he may know of the courage displayed by his incurably ill mother in giving him his right to life. The infant was born yesterday by caesarean section, a month prematurely. The mother, Mrs. Jean Garrett, 27, suffering from Hodgkins disease, a lymphatic ail- ment, knew that giving birth to the child would shorten her life, if she survived at all. She did survive. And the hospital reports both mother and child in good condition. Michael weighed in at 8 pounds 7 ounces, Thomas Garrett, an aircraft worker, his wife and their three older sons, Thomas Jr., 7; Robert 31 and Raleigh, 18 months, cele- brated Christmas gaily. Then on Christmas night, after the tree lights were turned off, Mrs. Garrett went to the not knowing whether she ever see her home again.
