The theater area is 700 by 500 feet and will be only 1500 feet from the Stock Island dog track. He made the 96 mile run from Havana to Key West all by his lonesome. “The other guys who went over to Cuba with me decided against the return trip. They flew back, so I was pilot, engineer, navigator and crew by myself,” Allyn said this morning. “I wanted to set a rec- ord.” He “sho” did! The return cruise took five hours and 45 minutes. He cleared Morro Castle in the Ha- vana harbor at 3:45 a.m. and at 9:15 today, was at the entrance to Key West’s harbor. In another 15 minutes the “Deep Six,” a trim little kicker drew up along side the dock in back of Bill Kroll’s Aqua- rium, Allyn, a rugged man who was a submarine chief during World War II, said he hadn’t had a chance to sit down during the hours coming back. “But surprisingly I don’t even have a backache. I was too busy to get tired running back and forth from the motors to the helm. The only effect I feel is being hun- gry. I didn’t have breakfast be- cause there wasn’t time to eat. Russell R. Cook of the USS Barb was arrested by Patrolman Robert Garrison on charges of driving while intoxicated, caus- ing an accident and reckless driv- ing as a result of the crash. According to the police report, Cook was driving east on Roose- velt Boulevard when he fell sleep at the wheel of his car and it ran headon into Mrs. Reese’ vehicle. Cook was not injured. The Navy man was released on bond and will appear in City Court today. | JayCees Launch Vote Campaign A get-out-the-vote campaign was mapped by JayCees for the gener- al election November 4, at their weekly meeting at the clubhouse last night, Paul Esquinaldo, presi- dent said.
