At a special meeting of the City Commission last _night, the city fathers vot- ed unanimously in favor of a motion directing City Manager Dave King to fill im a portion of Staples avenue which at this time is under nine feet of water and is said to be the cause of the situation. Jimenez, Kicklighter Join Society Dr. Herz Elected Vice-President — Of Monroe County Medical Society The Monroe County Medical Society held its regular meeting August 22, 1952 at the Monroe Gen- eral Hospital. At this gathering Dr. Jimenez and Lt. J.E. Kicklighter, Medical Corps, U.S.N., were elect- ed to membership in the Monore County Medicai Society and Dr. Ralph Herz member of the Lion’s Club, was elected for the unexpired term of Vice-Presidency left vac- ant by Dr. E. Gonzalez. During this meeting it was brought to the attention of the so- | ciety that on several occasions | when emergency house calls were | made the Physicians arrived only + to find that the patient had left | home, and in one instant less then fifteen minutes after the call had been placed. The assembled mem- bers deplored such thoughtlessness on the part of the patients and asked that such carelessness be closely watched. The main issue of the evening was the endorsing by the Society of the affiliation of the Monore County Blood Bank with that of Dade County. Arrangements were made for a meeting to be called for Thursday evening August 28, 1952 at the County Court House by the Key West Chapter of the A- merican Red Cross for the purpose of correlating the blood program of the American Red Cross with that of Monroe County. Dr. Ralph Herz, who is in charge of this project, announced that it was open to the public and that any and all were cordially invited to attend. The program will be dually sponsored by th.
