Pres. Election Registration for the November election has been very slow, with only 12 new voters coming in to ac: cording to Deputy Registration clerk, Mrs. Edna Mae Bullman. | Only those who have not voted | or registered since 1949 need re- gister. If the special election on the | dog racing track is held, expected that the numbers regi tering may rise sharply. County Legal Advisor Paul Sawyer quoted the law on race track elections today to The Ci- tizen. He said that all persons who vote in general elections are eligible for the special race track election referendum. Absentee ballots though not barred by the law on race referendums, are not customarily used. The sponsor of the election, Key West Kennel club would have to pay the cost of absentee voting, just as it does for the election itself. The race track referendum must be held within 90 days after the permit and written applica- tion have been pre d to County Commissioners at a re- gular or special meeting. At the earliest the election can be held three weeks after the application and permit have been presented.
