Attorney for Complainant, 608 Whitehead Street, Key West, Florida. jun10-17-24;july1,1952 War Roundup SEOUL, Korea u% — Swelled forces of United Nations and Chi- nese Red troops clashed today in the fourth day of a sharp fight for an Allied-held strategic hill po- sition on the uneasy Korean west- rn front. A U. S. Eighth Army briefing officer said “‘activity has in- creased” all along the western front and that patrol actions are “Jonger and more intense.” Fighting and shelling increased on the central and eastern fronts, the officer said. The Eighth Army said at least two companies of U. N. troops — about 400 men — skirmished with Reds today in the friction spot area near Chorwon. U. N. troops kilied %? and wounded 100 of 250 attacking Reds who tried vainly for 3 % hours Monday to win back the hill they lost Saturday. It was the third and largest assault on the hill by the Reds in 24 hours. Lesser fights broke out Monday near the main hill battle but neith- er side won or lost ground. A U.N. patrol killed 32 Reds in a 40 - minute fight Monday morning near the Pukhan River on the central front. A Red com- pany, supported by two platoons, fired on an Allied position near the Pukhan River for an hour and a half Tuesday morning then with- drew. Clouds hampered the operations of U. N. warplanes over North Korea Tuesday morning. Waitress Kills Short-Order Cook MIAMI @#—A waitress killed a short-order cook with one of his own boning knives on a downtown street corner today after an all | night drinking party. The dead man was identified as Carl Goldberg, 39. Patrolmen A. E. Hambacher and J. M. Dillin said the waitress was | Doris Kethum, 31, and that she had been living with Goldberg for | about a year. The officers quoted Mrs. Ruth { with | Phillips, a taxi driver, as saying | she saw the waitress grab an 8 | inch boning knife from a bag Gold- berg was carrying and stab him im the chest. She ran from the scene at South- | west First Street and Seventh Ave- but was captured by police | about a block away. She was held for investigation pending filing of "\formal charges. ‘The patrolmen said Goldberg and Miss Ketchum had been “drinking |and quarreling all night long.” The argument continued as they walked down the street about 7 Apparently Goldberg had some welry the woman claimed was hers and was taking it way in the ’ | bag, police said. Goldberg stopped om the corner and opened the bag. It was then the stabbing occurred. ‘| Investigate Death MILTON WA coroner's will investigate the fatal jury | “toy divorcee next week | Mrs. Lucille Little Land died in i ¥er-| pistol” shooting of a 17-year-old | 2 Pensacola hospital after being The WEATHERMAN Say: Forecast Key West and Vicinity: Partiy cloudy and continued warm through Wednesday; scattered showers or thundershowers most- ly in afternoons or evenings.
