BURKE Officials of th Key West Little Baseball League have decided to til May 13. This move was made, | so that their games would not con- flict with other events that are/| scheduled at Bayview Park. Support and financial backing of the six teams that make up the Little League are some of the fin- est organizations in Key West. Not that there are not more, but these are a little more able to lend a hand to the youth of this commu- nity. The Bench would like to thank the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Jay- cees, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks and Kiwanis for their kind generosity to this worthwhile pro- ject, which is but one of the many ways to keep the young boys off the strets and help combat juve- nile delinquency. Key West is not the only city that these nationally known organ- izations help by this manner. In almost every suburb of this coun- try of ours, one or all, contribute to some form of athletics for the youth. Members of the Key West Golf Club have ben invited to partici- pate in a tournament, held at the Miami Shores Country Club, May 31 and June 1. At the present time the trophy, which is awarded to the winner of these match plays, is with Miami, but according to Joe Lopez, it is expected that it will be brought back to Key West. The winner re-/| ceives the right to keep the trophy | till they have lost a tournamen then it is given over and the win-) ner maintains it until the other) the other one wins. These tourna- ments are played on a home-and-| home basiss, so the many local golf fans who will not be able to make the trip will receive their chance to watch the Key West members, when Miami Shores play | | their return match here, sometime | straight games and the st in the future | Some 40 or 50 members are ex-; pected to make the trip and if any others desire to go, they should contact Joe at the Club and let him know, so that arrangements can be made | It was felt by the officials of the yn Junior League mes were ending too so they have moved to 7:30 p.m event that one American L late at night ame time By this, in the of th games is tied up or some est the around effective tead of the Denver Is sere Baseball-Wacky DENVER (®—As a baseball-wa a USINESS AS USUAL” & Thanks2cvmg, rwimas St. Petersburg at West Palm Greenwooc | Bean and Diaz starred for win- BASEBALL aaa (Sates | Baseball | } 0 owinc | Kerr for the losers. e | The Score: s nd SCORES Throu h Club— R.
