Disabled Vets Must Await Auto Funds Congress Must Reconvene To Appropriate Finances For The Purchase Of Cars By Service-Disabled Vets Eligible disabled file applications for automobiles or other conveyances under a new law recently enacted by the Con gress will have to wait for their cars until the Congress reconvenes and can appropriate funds to ad- minister the Act, it was revealed today. Veterans Administration explain-! ed that since the new law does not contain an appropriation of funds for the cars, the Agency will have to ask the Congress for a Special appropriation when it veterans who | reconvenes | next January. Under the law, VA is authorized to pay up to $1600 toward the purchase price of an automobile or other con- veyances, including equipment with special attachments and de- vices as VA may deem neces- | sary for each veteran.
