The 19-year-old airwoman who | enlisted on February 24 was well! known for her musicianship as al trombonist with thé Key West! High School Band. During the first few weeks of} basic training with the 374lst; WAF Training Squadron, her abilities were uncovered by the} music director of the WAF Band. } She was immediately assigned i that organization. Her letter to Corporal Killian| is full of youthful enthusiasm and she states “the happiest moment in my life was the day I was ac- cepted for the WAF Band.’ i TALLAHASSEE, April 27.—(Special)—The school children of Florida will honor the immortal composer, Stephen Foster, on May 12. The day has. been “officially proclaimed by Governor Warren as Stephen Foster Memorial Day and the activities will be fitted in with the celebration of National Music Week.
